Atis, which grows upto 1.3 meter, is one of the most important MAPS grown in the Himalayan region. It is mainly grown in the Karnali region of Nepal, especially in Mugu and Humla districts. Atis contains alkaloids, flavonoids, tannis, cardiac glycosides, sapinis, etc. The leaf is mainly used to prepare tea. The root and rhizomes are also used to prepare tea and herbal medicine. Its many benefits include reduction of cholesterol and fat.
